The Gallery of the Open Frontier is a digital image library of photos, paintings, and drawings that pertain

to the history of the American West. This online resource, drawn initially from the primary collections of

the National Archives, is a platform where scholars, researchers, university students, primary and secondary

students, and the interested citizen can easily traverse a visual history of the American frontier.
