Congressman Sires Wants to Hear from You on Health Care Reform

I have already been very fortunate to hear from many constituents regarding their views on reforming our health care system and I encourage you to E-MAIL ME with your comments on health care reform.  I would also encourage you to take my poll on the public plan.

Over the past few months the debate on health care reform legislation has heated up and is on the forefront of everyone’s mind.  The three committees (Ways and Means; Education and Labor; and Energy and Commerce) of jurisdiction over health policy in the House of Representatives have been working together to develop a single bill that fulfills President Obama's goals of reducing health care costs, protecting and increasing consumers' choices, and guaranteeing access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans. On July 14, 2009, H.R. 3200, the America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 was introduced and has been reported out of all three Committees. In the coming weeks, the Tri-Committee Members will work together to prepare the legislation for the House floor this fall, ensuring that the President’s goals are met.

While debate is ongoing, I believe it is important that the process be transparent and that the information reported on the bill is accurate.  Please find below links to the full text and section-by-section summary of H.R. 3200, as well as a link debunking the most widely spread myths surrounding H.R. 3200.  This page will be continuously updated as new information is received to make sure you have all the facts.
