Housing
Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Technical Assistance
HOPWA technical assistance trains current and prospective grantees
to design and implement comprehensive strategies to meet the complex
housing and service needs of persons living with AIDS and their
families. Housing assistance and the support services funded by
the HOPWA program are a vital part of caring for those living with
HIV/AIDS. A stable home environment is critical for maintaining
complex drug therapies and managing the potential side effects of
these treatments.

Youthbuild
Technical Assistance
Two national technical assistance providers will receive funding
to improve programs funded under HUD's Youthbuild program. Youthbuild
grantees provide young people between the ages of 16 and 24 with
on-the-job training to acquire the construction skills necessary
to build and renovate single-family homes and multi-family apartments.
The homes are then sold at affordable prices to low- and very low-income
persons, as well as to homeless individuals and families.
