Environmental Health Perspectives December 1998 On The Cover:On the Cover: The widespread disappearance and the occurrence of malformed frogs prompted investigations into potential environmental causes for the events. An article ( Burkhart et al. , p. 841) and a research highlight ( Kavlock , p. 743) illustrate the difficulties in ascribing cause and effect to the observations. Water pollution, UV light, micronutrient loss, and fungal disease have all been implicated.
