On July 20-24, 2009 the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) organized a training course for the specialists of the Accounts Committee and Revision Committees of Maslikhats on practical aspects of performance audit.
The training course was led by Senior Economist Almagul Mukhamedieva of the USAID Economic Reforms to Enhance Competitiveness Project. The course aimed to improve the effectiveness, productivity, and cost-efficiency in managing public financial resources through the key aspects of performance audit. The course was focused on such areas of performance audit as planning, scope, stages, and priorities. Participants reviewed international experience and their implementation, as well as tools of the performance audit.
The Accounts Committee is a supreme audit institution of Kazakhstan directly subordinate and accountable to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It exercises external control (audit) and evaluation of the execution of the republican budget, use of grants, state assets, state guaranteed loans, revenues from sale of goods (works, services) by the governmental institutions.
