Support Groups
Support groups for anxiety disorders can help end the painful isolation of suffering alone that can be disruptive and debilitating. An effective support group helps recovery through mutual support and provides updated information about causes and treatment, eliminating some of the myths about anxiety disorders.

To start a support group, read Help Yourself: A Guide to Organizing an Anxiety Disorder Self-Help Group, by Jonathan Grayson, PhD, Anxiety and Agoraphobia Treatment Center in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania; and Bradley Riemann, PhD, Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. You can also read more about starting a support group.

ADAA regularly lists new support groups and updates information about current groups.

Support groups are available in many states and countries. The list on this site is a service of ADAA, but it does not represent an evaluation or recommendation. ADAA does not endorse the use of a support group as a substitute for proper diagnosis and treatment. Please check with your health care provider about the benefits of joining a support group as part of an overall treatment regimen.

Please e-mail supportgroups@adaa.org to add a group or update information.
