Key Partners of AMIDEAST/Tunisia
Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship Program

AMIDEAST opened a small office in the Tunis medina over 30 years ago. Since that time, the number of visitors to the office has grown from less than 400 per year to more than 1,000 per month. Many are interested in continuing their education in the United States and seek the quality advising and testing services that have made AMIDEAST a household name across the Arab world. Providing quality advising and testing services to Tunisians interested in continuing their education in the USA has always been a major component of AMIDEAST's mission. In recent years, we have added computers to our well-stocked Advising Library so that individuals can conduct research over the Internet. AMIDEAST also offers a range of standardized exams required for study at U.S. universities and for professional certifications. These include the ITP®, TOEFL®, TOEIC®, GRE®, SAT®, GMAT® and others.

AMIDEAST’s English Language Teaching (ELT) Program enrolls approximately 1,000 students in each of the 40–48 hour public sessions, which are geared toward adults and university students. Special ELT sessions for young adults and children as young as six are offered throughout the year. We also develop tailored courses for a growing number of contractors who require special ELT sessions for their employees. These include such organizations as the Tunisian Airports Authority, the Merchant Marine, several ministries, numerous banks, and many other public and private sector groups. Since the fall of 2002, AMIDEAST/Tunisia has offered ELT though distance learning using Dynamic English software.

In the fall of 2001, AMIDEAST/Tunisia launched the American Management Center (AMC), which offers short-courses or workshops on various aspects of American management skills. These workshops can be offered in French, Arabic, or English, according to client needs. Topics include, "How to be an Empowered Manager," "Teambuilding," "Problem Identification," and "Conflict Management."

Creating and Managing exchange programs is another major activity of AMIDEAST/Tunisia. AMIDEAST manages the recruitment, selection, pre-departure orientation and alumni activities for the following Department of State funded programs:

  • Fulbright
  • Youth Exchange and study
  • Legal and Business Fellowships

In collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, AMIDEAST has organized a Learn and Serve Program each summer since 2007.

AMIDEAST/Tunisia is located in a modern professional four-story building near the Belvedere Park and Place Pasteur in Tunis. The three-story annex next door houses two Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) labs, ELT classrooms, and the American Management Center. In addition, our center in Tunisia’s third largest city, Sousse, offers ELT courses and advising and testing outreach.
