Lucas Highlights Lost Opportunity for Improving Food Safety System
WASHINGTON –Today, Ranking Member Frank Lucas issued the following statement after the Motion to Recommit on H.R. 2749, the Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009, failed to pass the U.S. House of Representatives, 186-240.

Hearing to review pending climate change legislation
June 11, 2009
Mr. Chairman, I want to thank you for calling this hearing to review the Waxman-Markey bill.
I have said many times before and I will say it again today: the most important thing we can do for our agriculture community is allow the legislative process to work, to take the time to understand the consequences of our actions. There are still many unanswered questions surrounding the Waxman-Markey bill. And yet, we have Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Waxman trying to force it through Congress.

House Floor Statement on H.R. 2454
June 26, 2009
"The Waxman-Markey bill promises to destroy our standard of living and quality of life with higher energy costs, higher food prices, and lost jobs. This bill is the single, largest economic threat to our farmers and ranchers in decades. We have more than 115 agriculture and food groups publicly opposing this bill still today. Do you know why?"
