ANTITRUST DIVISION NAMES SPECIAL COUNSEL

FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY


WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Joel I. Klein, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division, announced today that he has appointed Jeff Blattner as his Special Counsel for Information Technology. "Jeff will coordinate the Division's overall policy for the computer and information industries, including its enforcement efforts in these important areas. He is a valuable addition to my team," Klein said.

Blattner, 43, is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. He has served as law clerk to a federal district court judge and to the late Associate U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, as an attorney in private practice in Washington, D.C., and as Chief Counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee staff of Senator Edward M. Kennedy. He most recently served as president of a real estate business started by his late father. He will also be an adjunct professor of legislation at Georgetown University Law School this fall.
