U.S. Army Europe quartermaster Soldiers wrap up month of training Romanian engineers to purify water

Keown)MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU, Romania (Aug. 24, 2009) -- Twenty-five military personnel from the Romanian Land Forces’ 3rd Engineer Battalion completed a month of water purification training with U.S. Soldiers from Bamberg, Germany's 240th Quartermaster Company, Aug. 20.

The training on the Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit is just one of several combined training missions that make up this year's Joint Task Force-East training rotation. Five Soldiers from the 240th deployed here for the rotation trained the Romanian troops, who are assigned to the 3rd's water purification detachment, at the Capu Midia Training Camp in the village of Corbu, near the Black Sea.

New commander accepts reins of 21st Theater Sustainment Command in Kaiserslautern ceremony

Frank Sanchez III)KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany (Aug. 24, 2009) -- Even the hottest day of this summer could not keep a large number of guests, Soldiers, civilian employees and Families away from the 21st Theater Sustainment Command change of command ceremony at the sports field on Daenner Kaserne here, Aug. 20. The throng turned out to wish departing commanding general Maj. Gen. Yves J. Fontaine and his wife a fond farewell, and to welcome their new commanding general, Brig. Gen. Patricia E. McQuistion.

That was the first of many messages Gen. Carter Ham, commander of U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, delivered at the opening plenary session of the 2009 LandWarNet Conference here. The LWN Conference continues through Aug. 22, and is a joint knowledge symposium headed by the Army's Chief Information Office/G-6 and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association designed to bring government and industry together to share ideas, best business practices, and future initiatives.
