Neuroscience Center of Excellence established in San Francisco

VA has teamed with the Department of Defense and the Northern California Institute for Research and Education to establish a Neuroscience Center of Excellence at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Researchers at the center, led by Dr. Michael Weiner, will explore new approaches to diagnosing and treating neurological injuries and illnesses suffered by U.S. troops and veterans. Key areas of investigation will include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Gulf War Illness, brain and spinal cord injury, wound healing, bladder dysfunction, hearing loss and other combat-related neurological conditions.
