Quote:

“Even beyond the dollars they bring to the state, says Darryl Clark, US Fish and Wildlife Services, “the wetlands have value and meaning. What price tag do you put on seeing a bald eagle, or watching a great egret in breeding plumage on a nest with chicks? If we lose the wetlands, we lose those experiences and our sporting traditions forever.

Project WET

Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) is an interdisciplinary water science and education program for formal and non-formal educators of students ages K-12, designed to provide young people with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions regarding water resource management.

Whether you are a classroom teacher in a public or private school, a college education instructor, preschool or daycare teacher, resource agency educator, youth organization leader (ie. 4-H, Scouts and Campfire), or nature center instructor, there’s something in Project WET for you.

The Project WET program is sponsored in Louisiana by the Louisiana Association of Conservation Districts and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry / Office of Soil & Water Conservation.  The sponsors of Project WET believe that conservation education is necessary for developing an awareness of and respect for water resources among our young people, which, in turn, encourages a life-long commitment of responsibility, stewardship, and positive community participation.

Project Wet Workshop (K-12th) on July 16, 08 at 8:30 – 3:00 at Audubon Zoo New Orleans, La. Fee $15.
