The raptor contaminants database is a subset of RIS that
includes references with information about contaminants in Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), or Peregrine Falcons
(Falco peregrinus). The database was developed by USGS, Snake
River Field Station personnel with quick response funds from the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service. The purpose of the
database is to provide a readily available source of information to consider if
the Bald Eagle or Peregrine Falcon populations decline.Information on Osprey contaminants is
included because they occupy a niche similar to bald eagles.
To retrieve references from the contaminants database, enter
the keywords you are interested in from the autocomplete or from the keyword
list. Then type in “FWSEC” as the final keyword in the keyword box. Not entering
“FWSEC” will bring up references about other species as well as abstracts and
popular articles about the 3 species.
