BLM to Invest Recovery Act Funds on Renewable Energy Permitting
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), a part of the U.S. Department of the Interior, will invest $41 million in Recovery Act funds to reduce its backlog of applications for renewable energy projects. EPA's Proposed Renewable Fuel Standard Tackles GHG Emissions
The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 boosted the federal requirements for the use of renewable fuels in the United States, but it also added greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions requirements for the fuels. California Adopts a Low-Carbon Fuel Standard
Each gallon of fuel sold in California in 2020 will have to result in the emission of 10% less greenhouse gases than each gallon sold today, according to the state's new Low-Carbon Fuel Standard. The standard will also take credit for non-liquid fuels like electricity, hydrogen, biogas, and natural gas. More

U.S. Government Accelerates its Purchase of Fuel-Efficient Vehicles
The U.S. General Services Administration will draw on $285 million in economic stimulus funds to purchase 17,600 new, fuel-efficient vehicles by June 1. The purchase will help U.S. automakers while allowing the federal government to reduce its use of gasoline. More
