The Washington Monument is open daily during the summer season from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., with the last tour beginning before 9:45 P.M. The days for scheduled closings are July 4, 2009 and December 25, 2009.

Summer season extends from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

From Labor Day weekend through Memorial Day weekend of 2010, the Washington Monument hours are 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., with the last tour beginning before 4:45 P.M.

Please note the following regulations with regard to visiting the Washington Monument:

No storage facility available

No Animals (except certified guide dogs)

No Suitcases or Large Backpacks

No Guns or Knives

No Strollers

No Food or Drink

No Mace or Aerosol Cans

Please notify a park ranger if you have a medical condition and/or device (e.g. pregnancy, pacemaker, insulin pump, et cetera) that requires special attention at the security screening facility. 

Red Squirrel  

Did You Know?
There are 4 types of squirrels found in Catoctin Mountain Park. The largest is the Fox Squirrel, the most common the Grey Squirrel. The Red Squirrel is known for being very vocal and the Flying Squirrel really only glides.
