Methodology_Description:
Water samples were collected from 1 m below the lake surface over each lake’s deepest point using a 1.5 L VanDorn-type water sampler. One L of collected water was filtered in the field using a Whatman GF/C mesh glass fiber filter. One L of filtered and 250 ml of unfiltered lake water were frozen upon return from the field to facilitate transport. Frozen filtered and unfiltered water samples were transported to the Cooperative Chemical Analytical Laboratory at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, for analyses of total phosphorus, total Kjeldahl-N, ammonium-N, and nitrate-/nitrite-N concentrations, and for alkalinity, pH, and conductivity.
