The Family and Youth Services Bureau Promotes Positive Youth Development
The Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) provides national leadership on youth issues, helping community-based organizations to provide effective, comprehensive services for youth in at-risk situations. Annually, FYSB serves more than 630,000 homeless youth and their families in more than 700 programs. FYSB also leads an agency-wide, crosscutting initiative on Positive Youth Development.
- At the 2004 National Youth Summit, attendees shared their thoughts about what defines youth leadership. The Youth Leadership Guide is the product of those discussions and describes twelve model programs/activities that demonstrate youth leadership.
- FYSB also funds the Positive Youth Development State and Local Collaboration Demonstration Projects.
