PDA National Formulary

All files on this page are .pdb (palm database) format and require the Palm OS application "List." To download, click here, then return to download the database file below.

The file below can be opened or saved to disk. If opened from this Webpage, it will self-extract to your desktop. If saved to disk, it will self-extract to the same folder when opened.

VA National Formulary - June 2007: vanf.exe (contains vanf.pdb: 70 KB)

Install the palm database file "vanf.pdb" as you would any other palm file.  If this is an update, it will overwrite your current file when installed to your PDA.  By default, the database is NOT write-protected.  If you are concerned about accidentally modifying the data, see "How to Write-Protect" below.  This will have to be done after each download of a database.

Installation for Palm PDAs
  • Open the Palm Desktop Software
  • Open the Install Tool
  • View | Install, F8, or "Install" on the menu bar
  • Click "Add"
  • Navigate to the "vanf.pdb" file that you downloaded
  • The file(s) will be installed on your handheld the next time you perform a HotSync operation
  • Mac users: Rename the file "vanf.exe" to "vanf.zip", then drag and drop the renamed file on Stuffit Expander
Using "List"
  • The user interface for "List" was designed to look and feel just like one of the built in Palm applications – "Address".
  • Use hardware scroll buttons or tap page up/page down to scroll
  • Tap a record (Product + VA Class) to bring up the note field that will contain any restrictions
  • Tap "Find" and enter search string to find entries
  • Draw graffiti character(s) to quick-scroll to entries
How to Sort by VA Class
  • Tap the database name in top left corner of screen, e.g. National Formulary
  • Tap Customize
  • Tap to change Display order from "Field 1, Field 2" to "Field 2, Field 1"
  • Tap Done
  • Repeat to change back to original sort
How to Write-Protect
  • Tap the database name in top left corner of screen, e.g. NationalFormulary
  • Tap Customize
  • Tap to check the box next to  "Write-Protect"
  • Tap Done
How to Delete a List Database
  • Open database to be deleted
  • Tap the database name in top left corner of screen
  • Tap "Delete database"
  • Tap OK
