Biographical Sketch:
Alyssa Rosemartin grew up outside of Philadelphia. She received her B.A. from Smith College in Spanish and Enivronmental Science in 2000. She served in the Peace Corps in northwestern Nicaragua, in the environmental education sector, from 2000 to 2002 and has also worked at the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory in Colorado, in education and research. She spent the past year interning at CEDO (the Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans) in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. She began her master's program with advisor Charles van Riper, III at the Univeristy of Arizona in 2006. Her master's thesis will address the conservation and biology of shorebirds in the upper Gulf of California wetlands. Her research will focus on these estuaries as a migratory stopover and also as a key breeding area for endangered Least Terns.
