Coalition forces release names of two Taliban militants killed in Laghman Province

KABUL, Afghanistan - Coalition officials confirm Taliban militants Bahadar Shah and Gul Pasha were killed during an operation conducted by Coalition forces against the Taliban's roadside bomb network in Laghman Province, Tuesday.

Bahadar Shah was the primary target of this successful mission. He ran the Taliban IED cell in Laghman Province, which was responsible for planning, building and emplacing roadside bombs and attacking Afghan civilians and Coalition forces throughout 2008.

Gul Pasha was a Taliban facilitator also killed during the operation.

Earlier reports described the operation in Alishang District, located in Laghman Province, against the Taliban network responsible for numerous roadside attacks throughout the region. Coalition forces killed 32 armed militants and destroyed an extensive cache of weapons, explosives and roadside bomb materials during the operation. Coalition forces employed small-arms fire during the operation, refraining from the use of aerial attacks or artillery to avoid unnecessary risk to civilians in the area.
