Afghan man killed at KMTC range

KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan man was injured and later died of wounds

sustained at the Kabul Military Training Center firing range Jan. 2.

While the range was active, local nationals wandered into the firing

area. Afghan National Army soldiers reacted to this by closing the range

and leading the group away from the range area. After the range was

closed, an Afghan citizen came forward and said his son was shot by

someone on the range.

The incident is under investigation.

"We offer our sincerest condolences to the man's family for this

unfortunate accident," said Col. Jerry O'Hara, U.S. Forces Afghanistan

spokesperson. "We are reviewing our range procedures and

responsibilities to ensure never happens again."
