Here are the items we are watching today: AZ The Mule Fire is reported to be 100% contained. Are you prepared for wildfires? Excellent wildfire preparedness information can be found at FEMAs website at www.fema.gov/hazard/wildfire Weather wise, here is what the Region IX area is looking like today: AZ An area of low pressure over the Mojave Desert will combine with marginal moisture and instability to allow isolated thunderstorms to develop...mainly this afternoon and evening. CA Extreme Southwestern CA: Isolated thunderstorms possible with strong...gusty winds and a few lightning strikes in the mountains and deserts through this evening. HI Wind Advisory now in effect until 6 pm HST. Expect winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around 50 mph. NV Southern Nevada: isolated thunderstorms in Mojave region, gusty winds likely. These storms will produce little rainfall, but will have the potential to produce very gusty winds. CA A Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of Extreme Southern CA today and tonight due to isolated thunderstorms in the mountains and deserts. Storms will likely be high based with little measurable precipitation, but possible dry lightning. HI A Wind Advisory for Big Island summits is in effect until noon today with West winds of 20 to 35 mph with possible higher gusts. The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG warning for dry lightning...which is in effect from 11 am this morning to 11 pm PDT this evening. Warning extends through most of southern Nevada. AZ: A FEMA Fire Management Assistance Grant was approved last night for the Mule Pass Fire Arizona (Mule Pass Fire) in Bisbee (Cochise County), Arizona.
