Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra: Capital Cultural Life since 1921

As New Jersey's oldest professional symphony orchestra, the Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra has contributed to the cultural life of the state capital since 1921. The symphony orchestra has also been the resident orchestra of the Trenton War Memorial Theatre since 1934. Following a five-year, $40 million renovation, the symphony reopened the War Memorial in December 1998.

Since its founding, Greater Trenton Symphony has introduced hundreds of thousands of children and adults to live orchestral music. Many of the greatest artists in opera and classical music of the 20th century have appeared as soloists, including Placido Domingo, Lauritz Melchior, Kirsten Flagstad, and Eleanor Steber. Other guest musicians have been Ben E. King and Doc Severinson.
