2009 NIEM National Training Event
September 30–October 2, 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland
Sponsored by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, this event focuses on the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM), the methodology that promotes standards and processes that enable government agencies to share critical information in emergency situations, as well as support day-to-day operations. This training event will focus on NIEM program management and architecture; implementing NIEM; using Information Exchange Package Documents, frameworks, and architectures to support implementation; and developer tools.

7th Annual International Counter-Terrorism Officers Association Conference
October 20–22, 2009 in Orlando, Florida
This conference of the International Counter-Terrorism Officers Association offers sessions on topics such as domestic terrorism, cyber terrorism, decisions of the Obama Administration, and developing intelligence assets within Arabic/Muslim/Middle Eastern communities.

EPA Emergency Preparedness & Prevention & HAZMAT Spills Conference
November 15–18, 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland
This all-hazards conference hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency provides education and training to meet the needs of emergency planners; environmental, emergency, safety, and operations staff from federal facilities and industry; first responders; hazmat responders; regulatory compliance specialists; medical, safety, and environmental personnel from hospitals; maritime, transportation and distribution industry personnel; power and utility industry staff; safety and environmental personnel from colleges and universities; and counter-terrorism professionals.

National Dialogue on the Quadrennial Homeland Security Review (Online Discussion)
August 31–September 6 and September 28–October 4
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is conducting a series of web-based, interactive dialogues. The first phase occurred on August 3–9; the second and third will be on August 31–September 6 and September 28–October 4. Areas of focus include counter-terrorism and domestic security management; border security; enforcing immigration laws; preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters; homeland security national risk assessment; and homeland security planning and capabilities.
