Expertise:
Research Interests: My interests focus on multi-disciplinary studies of large mammal populations that include the interactions of demographics, conservation genetics, and disease epidemiology and have implications for the successful management of these populations. I have been involved in studies of the demographics of Yellowstone bison and the conservation genetics and management of bison throughout North America, with an emphasis on those herds managed by the U. S. Department of Interior. I have contributed to plans to reintroduce European bison to portions of their native range in Poland, Romania, and Russia. I maintain a long-standing interest in the biology and management of non-native ungulate species on public lands, particularly in California.
