Secretary Salazar, Senators Bingaman and Udall
To Highlight Benefits to New Mexico in Public Lands Act

Albuquerque, N.M. – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will join New Mexico Senators Jeff Bingaman and Senator Tom Udall for a tour of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History on Friday, April 17 at 1:15 p.m. MDT followed by remarks highlighting the recently enacted Omnibus Public Lands Act of 2009.

Media are invited on the tour and will have an opportunity to ask questions of the secretary and senators after the remarks.

Salazar will highlight provisions of the Omnibus Act, recently signed by President Obama, that benefit New Mexico such as designation of new Bureau of Land Management units under the National Landscape Conservation System and provision of water supplies to the Navajo Nation.

Bingaman, as chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, helped shepherd the bill through Congress.
