The FHA Share of Home Purchase Activity report represents the impact
FHA is having on supporting homeownership opportunities across the
country. The tables found here provide information on the number (and
dollar) of home purchases in the U.S., and the share of those home
purchases made with mortgages having FHA insurance. FHA provides insurance
on home loans, which then encourages lenders to extend credit to first-time
and wealth-restricted households. Counts of home purchase activity
come from the U.S. Bureau of the Census (new homes, including manufacture
housing), and the National Association of Realtors (existing homes,
including condos). Information on FHA activity comes directly from
HUD data systems.
FHA has been serving the American public since 1934.
