CHAT DAY 2009

Our third annual Drug Facts Chat Day will be November 10, 2009. Mark your calendars!

Registration will be opening in mid to late August, so check back and get your school registered to participate.

The transcripts of past chats are available for those who may have missed seeing your question answered, or just want to see what students in other parts of the United States were asking us.

See you on November 10th!

If you or a friend needs help with a drug problem...

The best way for someone to stop using drugs is to get treatment from a doctor or other health professional. The sooner they get treatment the better are their hopes for recovery.

If you are in crisis and need to speak with someone immediately, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (they don't just talk about suicide, they cover a lot of issues and will help put you in touch with someone close by).

For more on treatment and where you can find it, you can call the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator at 1-800-662-HELP or go to their website at www.findtreatment.samhsa.gov. Talking about your drug use can be uncomfortable, but it can help to reach out to a trusted family member, teacher or coach.

The creative students at Rockville High School (RHS) in Rockville, Maryland created this Drug Facts Chat Day promotion for their morning announcements. RHS opened its media center so kids could go in throughout the day and post questions. Now the student leaders offer some of our scientists’ answers once a week during morning announcements. Go Rams!
