Applying for a Grant

Though this site presents crucial information about research awards, read the program announcement (PA) in depth before applying. PAs spell out requirements in greater detail than we provide. Many applications fail to obtain funding because investigators haven't complied with PA instructions.

Here's how to apply:

• Fellowships -- complete a PHS 416-1 fellowship application form.
• Career development grants -- submit your application electronically. Follow the supplemental instructions for K awards in part 7 of the Application Guide SF424 (R&R) – Adobe Forms Version A.
• Training grants -- prepare a PHS 398, the Public Health Service's grant application form.
