This map depicts Statewide and Regional ITS Architecture development as self-reported in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as of December 31, 2005. A data table is also available that lists all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, each regional area and the Architecture status (level of development). Selecting the state from the map or the listing below, will display the architectures for that state. Updates to the map and data table will be posted as they become available. This information does not imply acceptance or approval of the ITS architectures by the U.S. DOT.

Each architecture, either statewide or regional, is categorized in one of five levels of development or architecture status. These levels are:

Ready for Use – Work on the regional ITS architecture (RA) completed or nearing completion. Characteristics of this group may include, but are not limited to:

  • List of agency agreements have been developed;
  • Applicable ITS Standards have been identified;
  • Regional architecture is used to support the planning process, and/or to develop the TIP/STIP;
  • Regional architecture is used to support project implementation;
  • Lead maintenance agency and maintenance process has been identified.

Under Development – Work on the regional ITS architecture (RA) has started. Characteristics of this group may include, but are not limited to:

  • RA consultant Request for Proposals (RFP) is under development;
  • RA work is underway;
  • RA documentation is complete or nearing completion.

Have Not Started – It has been determined that based on the Final Rule criteria this area does require the development of a regional ITS architecture, but work has not started at this time.

Not Needed – There are no foreseeable ITS projects or initiatives with any integration implications in this area, therefore the development of a regional ITS architecture is not needed at this time.
