Images on NASA's missions and research
The NASA Image eXchange (NIX) is a web-based search engine for simultaneously searching one or more of NASA's online image and photo collections. Searching is performed using keywords (boolean operators can be employed to refine the search). NIX returns thumbnail sized images, textual descriptions, image numbers, links to higher resolution images, links to more information, and links to the NASA Center that stores each image. This service is an initiative sponsored by the NASA STI Program toward linking many existing photo databases in NASA. Currently, not all NASA photos are online, and not all NASA photo databases are linked to NIX. Minimum technical standards for a photo database must exist at a center for it to be linked to NIX to enable NIX's search engine to be active. An Agency Subgroup is working to increase the scope and number of photos in NIX. See the list of currently supported NASA image collections. Currently, NIX searches databases of over 450,000 NASA images and links to an additional 2,641,326 NASA images that reside on the web (accessible via the ADDITIONAL NASA IMAGERY link on the home page).

NASA Television (NTV) is a resource designed to provide real-time coverage of Agency activities and missions as well as providing resource video to the news media, and educational programming to teachers, students and the general public.

Astronaut Photos Home
Astronauts have used hand-held cameras to photograph the Earth for more than 30 years, beginning with the Mercury missions in the early 1960s. Crewmembers on NASA missions have taken nearly 400,000 photographs with Hasselblad, Linhof, Rolleiflex, and Nikon hand-held cameras. About 85 percent of these photographs are Earth-looking views. The rest show satellite deployments, extra-vehicular activities, and astronaut activities in the cabin.
