Master Chief Boatswains Mate Steve Cantrell is a native of Memphis, TN. He
is a 25 year veteran of the United States Coast Guard who completed Basic
Training at Cape May, NJ in November of 1983. BMCM Cantrell has served tours
of duty aboard USCGC RAMBLER Charleston SC, USCGC PATOKA Greenville MS, USCG
Station Barnegat Light, NJ, USCGC POINT CAMDEN, Santa Barbara, CA, as the
Executive Petty Officer, Officer in Charge, USCG Station Harbor Beach, MI,
USCGC CONFIDENCE Port Canaveral, FL, Officer in Charge, USCG Station
Alexandria Bay, NY, Officer in Charge, USCGC POINT WELLS Montauk, NY,
Officer in Charge, USCGC RIDLEY
Montauk, NY, Officer in Charge, USCG Station
Wrightsville Beach, NC, Command Master Chief, First Coast Guard District,
Boston, MA, Officer in Charge, USCG Station Panama City Beach, FL, and is
currently serving as the Command Master Chief for the Eighth Coast Guard
District in New Orleans, LA.
BMCM Cantrell’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard
Commendation Medal, 7 Coast Guard Achievement Medals, 2 Commandant’s Letter
of Commendation Ribbons, 8 Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals, and numerous
service and unit awards. BMCM Cantrell holds a permanent Cutterman’s pin,
Boat Coxswain pin, permanent Boat Forces Insignia, Officer in Charge Afloat
and Ashore pins, and Gold Badge (Command) insignia.
