The Census of Horticultural Specialties, conducted once every 10 years, provides the only comprehensive, detailed picture of U.S. floriculture, nursery and specialty crop operations. The information gathered helps shape decisions regarding farm policy, funding availability, research and development and other key issues. NASS will begin conducting the 2009 Census of Horticulture this December.
The 2007 Census of Agriculture showed more than 20,000 farms engaged in organic production in the United States. As a follow-up to the 2007 Census, USDA is conducting its first-ever, wide-scale survey of organic agriculture.
As a supplement to the 2007 Census of Agriculture, the Farm and Ranch Irrigation Survey provides the only complete, consistent data regarding on-farm irrigation activities in the United States.
