GES DISC staff presentation at international monsoon study program meeting

NASA data and services will help support examination of human-monsoon interactions in Asia

Dr. Suhung Shen (GES DISC/George Mason University) will give a presentation entitled "NASA Data and Services to Support MAIRS" at the Second MAIRS International Workshop on Asian Dryland Study in Changchun, China, which takes place July 23-25,  2009.   Co-authors on the presentation are Gregory Leptoukh and Irina Gerasimov.

MAIRS (Monsoon Asia Integrated Regional Study)  is a new international research organization implemented by START (SysTem for Analysis, Research, and Training), the START TEA-RC (Temperate East Asia Regional Centre),  and Chinese donors.  This program focuses on human interactions with the monsoon system.  It will attempt to improved understanding of how human activities may modulate the Asia monsoon climate, and how the changed monsoon climate will impact further the social and economic development of Asia.
