Two new instances of Giovanni supporting the recently released Modern Era-Retrospective-analysis for Research and Applications (MERRA) have been added to the Giovanni family. MERRA is a NASA reanalysis for the satellite era using a major new version (V5) of the Goddard Earth Observing System (GEOS) Data Assimilation System (DAS). The project is managed by the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) at Goddard. The MERRA dataset focuses on historical analyses of the hydrological cycle on a broad range of weather and climate time scales.

MERRA Monthly 2D Giovanni focuses on visualizing and analyzing the MERRA 2D monthly data from 6 standard 2D data collections. All data collections used here are at GEOS-5 native resolution of 2/3 longitude by 1/2 latitude degrees.

MERRA Monthly 3D Giovanni focuses on visualizing and analyzing the MERRA 3D monthly data from 10 standard 3D data collections.
