Cmdr. Tom Webber

District 8 Chaplain
Chaplain Webber is an alumnus of Cornerstone University. Tom’s
advance studies include: Grand Rapids Theological School (Master of Divinity),
Faith Lutheran Seminary (Doctor of Ministry), and Emory University (Master
of Theology), Joint Professional Military Training (Phase 1), and participated
as a Research Fellow at the Center of Ethical Leadership at the U.S. Naval
Academy.
Prior to his commissioning as a Lieutenant in the Chaplain Corps (1993), Tom
served civilian churches at many different levels: Missionary in Brazil
(1978); Youth Pastor, Omaha, NE (1979-80); Student Pastor, Grandville, MI
(1980-84); Church Planter, Sparks, NV (1984-87); Founding Pastor, Sparks, NV
(1987-90); Associate Pastor, Springfield, OR (1990-91); and Senior Pastor,
Kokomo, IN (1992-94).
Chaplain Webber’s military assignments with specific operations include:
COMDERSON SIX (1994-96) - Haitian Migration out
of Port-au-Prince, and operation Able Vigil (Cuban migrant rescue).
USS TRENTON, LPD 14 (1996-98) - disaster recovery for the TWA Flight 800;
Operation DYNAMIC RESPONSE with the 24
th Marine Expeditionary
Unit.

Oceana (1999-2001) – Chapel Pastor, Flight-line Chaplain for VF 101 & VFA
106, on scene chaplain for the 306th “Red Horse” Engineers Reserve Battalion
air disaster.

spiritual development for Coast Guard personnel at 205 units located in 26
states.
Chaplain Webber’s personal awards include:
Meritorious Service Medal; Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with combat
“V”, w/ three gold stars); Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal
(w/ two gold stars); the Combat Action Ribbon and numerous other unit and
service citations and awards.
