Real Property Disposal

Federal agencies can count on GSA to support their real property disposal needs.  GSA promotes the effective disposal of federal agency's excess real property assets (including vacant space, buildings, land, lighthouses, warehouses, and air rights).

The Greater Southwest Region provides the full range of disposal options to maximize best value to our customer agencies and the taxpayer within the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

The process for federal agencies to declare and dispose of federal real estate is mandated by federal law. Agencies with questions relating to real estate disposal should contact the Greater Southwest Region Real Property Disposal Division. GSA also provides assistance and advice on complex disposal issues to Congress, military departments, other Federal agencies, State and local governments, and the private sector. The majority of this work is performed on a reimbursable basis.

As a central broker, GSA is a one-stop agency for real property disposal, and surplus properties are made available for various public purposes, including negotiated sale to state and local governments and eligible nonprofit institutions. The general public can find real property for sale on GSA's website, and find a full range of real property for sale at govsales.gov.
