To be ELIGIBLE FOR EMPLOYMENT, candidates must be a U.S. citizen. There are two personnel systems for health care professionals:
Civil Service and Commissioned Corps (Uniformed Service).

Each discipline has different pay scales and incentives so the dental, medical, nursing and pharmacy sites provide additional information on practice opportunities and personnel systems.
NAIHS total staff is about 3,500 of which 3,000 are civil service and 425 are commissioned officers. Positions are available for 270 physicians, 600 registered nurses, 80 dentists, advanced practice nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, engineers, and multiple other providers.
