STATEMENT BY TOMMY G. THOMPSON
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Regarding "Step With It" Program to Encourage Physical Activity for Kids

Coca Cola's "Step With It" program is a wonderful example of a partnership that can promote youth exercise in a way that's healthy and fun.

President Bush's "Healthier US" initiative encourages all Americans to take steps to increase physical activity and exercise. The "Step With It" program helps achieve these goals. With obesity and Type-2 diabetes on the rise among young people, the "Step With It" program is the kind of program we need to urge America's children to step outdoors, away from video games and television sets and onto parks and playgrounds.

I commend Coca-Cola for the "Step With It" campaign and its strong commitment to helping America's children develop healthy habits.
