OSTI Announces Alert Service for arXiv Patrons

March 2005

Oak Ridge, TN – The Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) is pleased to announce implementation of an Alert Service that serves patrons of arXiv, a source in the fields of physics, mathematics, non-linear science, computer science, and quantitative biology. ArXiv, a service of Cornell University Library System, is one of the sources included in OSTI's E-print Network.

Through this Alert Service, patrons can subscribe to be automatically notified of the latest information posted on arXiv, as well as other e-print sources in the E-print Network. A special interface is provided for arXiv patrons through the E-print Network.

E-print Network is a vast, integrated network of electronic scientific and technical information created by scientists and research engineers active in their respective fields. Patrons can access approximately 18,200 Web sites, 37 major e-print databases, and more than 650,000 documents, as well as links to more than 2,700 relevant scientific societies. Approximately three million e-prints are accessible through the E-print Network, which is intended for use by other scientists, engineers, and students at advanced levels.
