Course Description: The reference laboratory
interface project is a joint effort by Cimarron Medical Informatics
and the IHS Office of Information Technology (OIT) to develop
a user friendly interface between commercial laboratory vendors
and IHS laboratories to transmit and receive laboratory results
via VPN networks. The interface will be available in either
a uni-directional mode or a bi-directional interface mode.
Sites that elect to utilize the uni-directional mode will
only be able to receive laboratory results without electronic
ordering capability available through the IHS laboratory package.
A bi-directional interface will allow a facility to electronically
transmit and receive lab results through the IHS laboratory
package and have results viewable through the Electronic Health
Record (EHR).
Prerequisite: Laboratory or IT staff wishing to attend should be proficient in use of the RPMS Laboratory package, have attended Basic or Intermediate lab package training, and have a good understanding of RPMS as well as database and file maintenance for the Laboratory Package
