Geographic Areas Overview

FRAMES Geographic Areas

FRAMES Geographic Areas

Within the FRAMES Geographic Areas, wildland fire content is aggregated at a geographic level relevant to wildland fire management. The FRAMES Geographic Areas correspond to the boundaries of the 11 Geographic Area Coordinating Centers (GACC) designated by the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). Each FRAMES Geographic Area provides an opportunity for collaboration between researchers and managers located within that particular area. Currently, FRAMES is collaborating on three Geoportal projects: the Alaska Fire Portal, the Northwest Fire Portal and the Southern Fire Portal. In each case, FRAMES is working with local researchers to provide access to geographically-based and nationally relevant data, documents, and tools.
