The Health Center Program: Recovery Act Grants

 


The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides $2 billion for grants to health centers,an unprecedented opportunity to serve more patients, stimulate new jobs, and meet the significant increase in demand for primary health care services among the Nation's uninsured and underserved populations.

Health centers are community-based and patient-directed organizations with more than 7,000 locations nationwide.

Health Center Quarterly Reporting
Health centers receiving funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) are required to submit quarterly reports on programmatic progress on these grants.

The first report is due July 10, covering New Access Point (NAP) and the Increased Demand for Services (IDS) awards.

Recovery Act Funding

  • support new health center sites and service areas,
  • increase services at existing sites, and
  • support spikes in uninsured populations.

$1.5 billion to

  • support construction, renovation and equipment, including health information technology systems, in health centers and health center controlled networks receiving operating grants under section 330 of the Public Health Service Act.
