Compliance Using COMcheck-Plus Discontinued
COMcheck-Plus was developed to show compliance using the whole-building performance approach. This approach allows trade-offs between the major sections of the code (envelope, lighting and mechanical). It is suitable for use in jurisdictions with energy codes based on ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-1989, such as the ASHRAE 90.1 Code, the 1998 and 2000 International Energy Conservation Codes (IECC), and many state-developed energy codes.
This discontinued software uses the DOE-2.1E simulation program to analyze the proposed building's performance. The COMcheck-Plus software simplifies this performance-based approach but is still much more complicated than using COMcheck™. COMcheck-Plus can also be used for designs that include unusual design features (large skylight areas), for design features that are not fairly treated under simplified methods (certain fixed shading surfaces), or for documenting above-code performance. For more information see the COMcheck-Plus FAQs. Technical support for COMcheck-Plus is no longer provided.
COMcheck-Plus Limitations
- COMcheck-Plus does not have a rule set for ASHRAE Standard 90.1-1999 and cannot be used for obtaining LEED Energy and Atmosphere credits.
- COMcheck-Plus user-interface is suitable only for buildings that can be fully described with the building creation wizard. Editing the building descriptions or components created by the building wizard is a complex process and not recommended for users without a background in energy simulation.
- COMcheck-Plus does not take advantage of the full complexity and power of DOE-2. It allows tradeoffs between walls, windows, roofs, skylights, slabs, equipment efficiency, lighting power densities, and economizers, but does not currently handle HVAC or lighting control strategies, any renewable energy sources, or any sort of thermal storage equipment.
I understand that this is a Discontinued Tool and technical support is no longer provided, and I would like to continue to download.
