TODAY'S FOCUS

Third Army/U.S. Army Central Theater Security Cooperation Program

What is it?

Third Army's Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) program involves all elements of its staff, subordinate commands, other components, adjacent units and other commands and agencies in its efforts to "Shape the Future." Third Army's TSC program focuses on enhancing partner capacity, fostering regional cooperation and ensuring contingency access for full spectrum operations within the United States Central Command area of operations. The primary components of Third Army's TSC program are exercises, operations, planning conferences, exchanges, orientation visits, seminars, workshops and senior leader visits.

What has Third Army done?

TSC events have been conducted in Central and South Asia, the Horn of Africa, and Middle Eastern countries, including Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Third Army conducted 199 TSC engagements in the past two years. Some of the bilateral and multilateral TSC events include: The International Air Defense Symposium, Land Forces Symposium (Kenya), Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Explosive Ordnance Device visit, Pakistan Border Seminar, Egyptian visit to the Combined Arms Center, National Training Center and Joint Readiness Training Center, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Public Affairs Exchange and the International Artillery Symposium.

Why is this important to the Army?

Third Army's TSC program is important to the Army because it strengthens and builds coalition teams in order to improve each nation's own capabilities and deter adversaries. Third Army's TSC program is vital to "Shaping the Future" for full spectrum operations within the USCENTCOM area of operations, while supporting the National Security Strategy of the United States, the National Defense Strategy, and the National Military Strategy.
