Tevatron University is an attempt to add the "university" back into Fermilab. The informal talks are usually on a Thursday evening, at 6 p.m., in 1 West, in Wilson Hall. (Free) pizza and drinks are served at 6 p.m., and the talks start at 6:30 p.m.- Fermilab Amateur Radio Club *
The Fermilab Amateur Radio Club welcomes anyone with an interest in Ham Radio or Short Wave Listening. The club station, WB9IKJ, operates on most HF amateur bands and the club repeater system is on Wilson Hall. Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month (except December) at noon. The usual location is the second floor lounge area, just above the cafeteria, in Fermilab's Wilson Hall.- Fermilab Barnstormers Model Airplane Club *
The Fermilab Barnstormers was formed to promote the art of building and operating radio control (R/C) models of all types, as well as all flying models.... The members have many individual interests that include R/C airplanes, R/C helicopters, Control Line airplanes, and free flight planes. They meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m., at the Frelo Field or if the weather does not cooperate at the User's Center TV room.- Fermilab Chess Club *
The Fermilab Chess club is open to all employees and visitors and meets during the year, depending on demand, for casual - usually blitz - games. During the academic year we also participate in matches sponsored by the Chicago Industrial Chess League. Half of these matches are played at Fermilab and the other half are played at nearby companies and organizations, such as Lucent Technology and Argonne National Laboratory. It should be pointed that there is a wide distribution of playing strengths within the League, so even people who are relatively new to the game should find the match play of interest.- Fermilab Creative Writers Club *
The Fermilab Creative Writers Club is open to all Fermilab employees, users, visitors and retirees who are writers of fiction, poetry, drama, nonfiction, or of non technical works (essays). The club exists to support, encourage, and advance the personal writing of its member authors. The main focus is reviewing and commenting on member authors' work. Our next interest is in discussing all and any of the myriad aspects of writing. The club has, in the past, joined in events with the Elgin Community College writers group. On occasion, there are social get-togethers. The club meets twice a month, normally on Wednesdays, from noon until 1 p.m. in the Abacus Room, 4th floor, Wilson Hall. Please contact Bakul Banerjee for more information.- Fermilab Folk Club *
The Fermilab Folk Club sponsors regular monthly barn dances to promote and preserve traditional square and contra dancing. You can also do International Folk Dancing and Scottish Country Dance at Fermilab.- Fermilab Singers *
The Fermilab Singers provides an opportunity for people to meet, sing together and learn new music selections. The singers sing once a week on Wednesday at noon in the Auditorium. New members are always welcome!- Garden Club *
