Waste Recovery and Composting

In Oregon, cities with a population over 4,000 must offer monthly curbside recycling, according to ORS 459A. To find out what materials are accepted in your community for recycling and how to prepare them, contact your city or county solid waste official (Visit the Solid Waste Resources Web page.), the nearest DEQ regional office (see Contact DEQ link above), or in the Portland-Metro area call the recycling hotline: 503-234-3000.

Programs

Material Recovery and Waste Generation

  • Forms
    Individual (Private) Recyclers, Recycling Collectors (Haulers), Scrap Metal Dealers, and Electronics Recyclers are required to complete and submit these forms by February 28 of each year.
  • Reports:
    Describing the methodology and results of Oregon's Material Recovery and Waste Generation Surveys. The past three years are available online, for previous reports please contact the Solid Waste Section.
