Quality Control

The SNAP Quality Control System measures the accuracy of State eligibility and benefit determinations. Data collected by quality control are also used for program improvement and analysis.

FY 2008 Error Rates

 

The FY 2008 national payment error rate of 5.01 percent represents the lowest rate in the history of the program. The FY 2008 national negative error rate is 10.96 percent.

 

States receiving FY 2008 performance bonuses were also announced with the release of the quality control error rates on June 26. The awardees for best and most improved payment accuracy will divide $24 million based on caseload. These States are Florida, South Dakota, Georgia, Nebraska, North Carolina, Mississippi, the Virgin Islands,and Wyoming for best and Delaware, Gerogia, and Ohio for most improved. The awardees for best and most improved negative error rate for FY 2008 will divide $6 million based on caseload. These recipients are Nebraska, South Dakota, Idaho, and New Hampshire for best and Colorado and Oklahoma for most improved. South Dakota and Nebraska are winners in both best categories for FY 2008.
