Since 2000, the Library of Congress has developed thematic or event-based Web archive collections. The following is a list of collections and projects that are in various stages of production. Where researcher access is available, a link to the archive is provided.
What We're Doing Now
- Supreme Court Nominations 2009
The Supreme Court Nominations 2009 Web Archive will be a selective collection of Web sites archived between June 2009 through the completion of the hearings process. Web sites collected will include materials produced by watchdog, public policy, and political advocacy groups, blogs and tweets, community and religious organizations, foreign and domestic news sources, educational and research institutions, and independent websites.
Collection dates: June 2009 through confirmation hearings. - Afghanistan Web Archive
The Library's Islamabad Overseas Operations Office is archiving the websites of government and high profile NGO and think tanks in Afghanistan.
- Indonesia General Elections
The Library's Jakarta Overseas Operations Office is documenting the ongoing process of Indonesia's Parliamentary election, Legislative election, and Presidential election in 2009. The archive will include campaign and party websites, and sites with information about bio-marine environment issues, an important campaign issue in 2009.
- Public Policy Topics
- Note: This collection was previously named Presidential Transition During a Time of Crises but was changed July 28 2009 to Public Policy Topics after a review of the scope of the collection was re-evaluated. Previous documentation may refer to the former name.
Original scope:
The Presidential Transition During a Time of Crises Web archive will be a selective collection of up to 250 Web sites archived between January 2009 and June 2009. The collection will be evaluated prior to the end of the 6 month period, with an option to renew the collection for a longer period. Web sites collected will include materials produced by domestic and foreign political groups, community and religious organizations, advocacy groups, foreign and domestic news sources, and independent websites.
- Legal Blawgs
A selective collection of authoritative blogs associated with American Bar Association approved law schools, research institutes, think tanks, and other expertise-based organizations, containing journal-style entries, articles and essays, discussions, and comments on emerging legal issues, national and international.

- U.S. Congressional/Legislative Web Sites
House, Senate, congressional committee and related congressional Web sites.
Collection dates: December 2002 – present - Iraq War 2003
Public policy Web sites documenting the Iraq War.
