DEPARTMENT OBTAINS $82,500 SETTLEMENT IN HUD ASSISTANCE-ANIMAL
CASE Justice Department Obtains $82,500 Settlement in HUD
Assistance-Animal Case. The owners and operators of a Minnesota
apartment complex must pay a woman $82,500 this week as part of
federal consent decree arising from a HUD charge. HUD charged
that the defendants violated the Fair Housing Act in not allowing
the woman to reside at the complex with a dog that assists her

DEPARTMENT REACHES $62,000 SETTLEMENT RESOLVING HUD DISABILITY
CHARGE IN IDAHO.
A landlord in Idaho Falls, Idaho, has agreed to pay $62,000 to
resolve a disability discrimination lawsuit arising from a HUD
charge. HUD charged the landlord with violating the Fair Housing
Act for refusing to allow disabled residents to have assistance

DEPARTMENT OBTAINS $361,000 SETTLEMENT FOLLWING HUD CHARGE OF
RACE AND FAMILY STATUS DISCRIMINATION. A Virginia Beach landlord
will pay $361,000 to settle a lawsuit alleging he subjected African
American tenants to stricter rules and unjustly excluded families

DEPARTMENT OBTAINS $115,000 SETTLEMENT IN HUD CASE ACCUSING CONNECTICUT
LANDLORD OF DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION. The Justice Department
has reached a $115,000 settlement in a case first brought by HUD,
in which the agency charged a Connecticut landlord with violating
the Fair Housing Act for refusing to make an exception to a 'no-pet'
policy for a disabled tenant who required an assistance dog. Read
